Shiny or not,that's a question.
Can anyone teach me how to apply the shiny effect on character models? I'd always wonder to make some slimy troll and orc babes.
Thank you for reading and hope for teaching.

I'm not sure if anyone's asked this yet, but is there anyway to apply a shiny effect to hair as well as skin? I can get it to work on the characters skin, but is it possible to add a bit of sheen to hair as well.

Thanks for the answers,
am i right that there is no geoset for the characters face or head? At least i didnt find it in Modelviever, just hairstyles, different types of boots and gloves and so on. Making everything shiny except the head would be near to perfect for me as my character is wearing fullplate on most occasions.

Good stuff, sbep, I'll make a link to that post in the tool's main thread.

Re. making just armor shiny: All armor except helmets and shoulders are simply just textures placed on top of the character model.. However, the shiny effect can only be controlled at the model/submodel level, NOT at the texture level. You can't, for example, have a shiny bikini and non-shiny skin. You could, though, have non-shiny skin and a shiny hair style, or a shiny dress (just the bottom part, which is a separate part of the model), or shiny robe-sleeves, because all of those things are separate submodels from the main body. If you are curious about what is a submodel, just open a player model in WoWModelViewer, open the Model Control dialog, and play around submodels in the "Show Geosets" (geoset is another word for submodel) box.

The head and body are, indeed, one geoset. (To get a bit more technical, that geoset does not include the legs, tail or upper back.)
