So how do you do it the long way? As im on a pre wotlk private server (Can't be assed to buy the addon im not gonna play it) and most patches, programs have been updated beyond what i have, figured i'll try it myself. Is it to do with the mesh or texture or completely standalone..and packed into the mpq? or something? lol Re: How to:Apply the shiny effects on models?

[Edit] Ok so environment maps? forgot to take in earlier posts....To blender tutorials i guess.

It's all in the mesh. Each mesh contains a list of textures to use. The tool adds another texture to the mesh's internal lists and gives it the flags that tell the engine to use it as an environment map. So, I think the "long way" is to use my tool or write your own, heh.

Thanks for the info, would friggen love to use your tool but im using pre wotlkorlwk models and well they don't work on it. Had a go at doing environment maps on blender and didn't really get that far not suprisingly, trial and error is cool when you actually have some basic knowledge of the program which i really don't have lol....but uh you kinda reminded me of trying to work this one out so i might have another go.

You're welcome but I'm not sure if you got it working? You know you can use that tool to add shininess without going through any obj importing/exporting or using any 3D editor, right?

I got the tool, however I didn't found the option of shiny effect in the .INI. Could you give me any suggestion?

It's the "bAddEnvMap" option. (Environment Maps are another word for that type of shiny effect.)
Any other option required? It said ASSUMPTION FAILED.........

Is the problem that you don't have the tool? (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jlndz3nvm0t) Or that you don't know how to use it? Or that you don't know how to make MPQ files?
I got the tool, however I didn't found the option of shiny effect in the .INI. Could you give me any suggestion?
