Sadly Blizz took our Patches for a little while. So I tried the thing with the Soundcache and it worked well, that's the Good thing
BUT
I can only do about 3-4 MPQs for my patches. There are all in all together 33 patches, for my WoW.
So I tried merging the MPQs. But there are two questions.
1.One: I used Ladik's MPQ editor for the MPQs but in two ways. The first way was to open every MPQ single and extract them all into one folger (you know, that I have to overwrite a lot of data with this way). After that, I made this folder to a new MPQ. The other way was to open all MPQ at once (In one Multimpq I don't know the exact name, it's the option which merges The MPQs all together to one MPQ before extracting it into a new folder) after that I made again a new MPQ. Which way ist the correct one? I don't want too loose some Details in my patches by merging them.
2.One: Both ways made the MPQ Data very small, it was about 290 MB MPQ Data merged to about 100. And the extractet MPQs (all in single, before Patch 4.03) was about 350MB. Did I have lost Data or makes the merging the MPQ smaller than it was before?
Sorry for my bad englisch, Iam a german lady, and I'm not that much into working with MPQ Editors and so on.
Thank you for helping me in this problems *smile* If there any questions left, please feel free to ask.

These were facts I already knew. The questions were about the Merging itself (I already use Ladik's) and about the Loss off data and the way of Merging the MPQ (Multi MPQ opening extract in one folder, than creating a new one? or Open all MPQs single, extract them single into one folder and overwriting anytime I have to overwrite)
The MPQ (Sound Cache and so on) did work for me as far, but the questions above are still not answered for me. (Perhaps I'm to stupid to read the answers in your post zilem, sorry for that ) _________________ Which Final Fantasy Character Are You? Final Fantasy 7
I think it Might depend in the Content.... Model edits packed with Compression don't work with Model viewer (however some model edits don't work with modelviewer at all) and Skins packed with with Compression might not work, however Interface textures might still work with Compression (Only a theory) _________________

The answer you seek is above and is green and tagging on (Atribute) and MPQ 2.0, and don't use a pre 4.0 MPQ to contain the files which is why i said create a new _________________
I hope it's alright to ask here, even though it's not the OP's question...
Is there any way to merge .MPQ folders with Ladik's? When people found out that they could actually use folders in lieu of .MPQ files, they all had a huge switch over to them... and now, I can't figure out how to properly merge them in Ladik's.
How do? _________________ Will whore writing ability for food.
